Artist Membership benefits;

Membership fee: $40.00 per 12 month period (renewal based on application signature). Consistent 2, 4, 6 month rotating exhibits in Lexington County businesses; link for artist on site; opening exhibition gatherings; invitations, ID, tags. Newsletters and mentoring; Maintain inventory and provide exhibit experience.



 

We Do Not hold juried shows, require samples of art, or select artists based on committee; accept payments in order to secure a specific exhibit or artist; We do not show favoritism; We do not form judgments on style, genre, economic status, gender, sexual orientation, race, experience or the like; We do not exhibit or promote horror/graphic, nudes or religious art; We do not exhibit horror/gore, nudes or religious art, We do not require a commission or take percentage of sales.



We Do work diligently to obtain businesses who understand that local art and culture improve the overall quality of life in Lexington County, which in turn creates happier citizens; 

We do keep members busy with many locations to hang their work.

We do maintain contact primarily via email; however, we may need to communicate through phone and in person;

We do list each artists based on when they join, and maintain a next in line principle;

We do contact participating artists with location, contact person and dates to install and remove art;

We do request artists provide opinions of exhibit experience; opinions are for APPLS use only and therefore deemed private;

We do charge a minimal yearly membership fee for Artists, which cover some maintenance;

We do encourage members to promote and market their art and exhibits;

We do hold opening exhibition parties;

We do offer advertisement for artists or businesses who may not be able to participate;

We do provide invitations for artists to invite many people to openings & exhibits.



 

 

 

Acceptable forms of art;
Paintings-on Canvas, Wood, Paper, Watercolor Board or Masonite, using oil, acrylic, encaustic, tempera, watercolor, gouache, acrylic,
Drawing-pastel, pencil, ink, charcoal.
Mixed Media-two-dimensional work using collage or combination of media and enhanced photography,
Prints-original etching, lithograph, block print, mono print, serigraph and collograph,
Photography
-black & white, color, hand-tinted, digitally-altered photographs, and computer generated/digitally-altered prints,
Open Media-ceramics, glass, fibers, constructions(either free standing or pedestal if location permits),

Jewelry or Craft-exhibit space tables at each art night,

South Carolina Artists, SCA/ Art in Public Places for Lexington SC, APPLS Membership Application
Please review the following information and submit the application & fee separately.

Membership benefits; Members participate in both public and private community exhibits and events, link on site, opening night
events, invitations, tags, signs and more exposure as a group.

Acceptable forms of art; Paintings on Canvas, Wood, Paper, Watercolor Board or Masonite, using oil, acrylic, encaustic, tempera,
watercolor, gouache, acrylic;  Drawing, pastel, pencil, ink, charcoal; Mixed-Media, 2-d, 3-d, collage or combination of media, enhanced
photography; Prints, original etching, lithograph, block print, mono print, serigraph and collograph; Photography, black & white, color,
hand-tinted, digitally altered photographs, and computer generated/digitally-altered prints; Open Media, ceramics, glass, fibers,
constructions; Artisans including sculpture, textile art, pottery, ceramics, glass, jewelry, receive name sign in-lieu-of individual tags.
All work must be original or created by member. No groups or partnerships. Tables, easels, and display racks are not provided,
no commercial or wholesale dealers.

Art hanging/installations-simple guidelines;
Art in Public Places for Lexington SC/APPLS is location specific. Locations outside of Lexington County specify South Carolina Artists/SCA.  
Members are able to choose from varying times/dates to install/remove art. Out of respect for others please maintain these times.
Exhibiting art-all 2-d art must be wired (no saw tooth hangers) in the back, framed or sides painted. No staples or raw canvas should show on sides of art.
SCA/APPLS tags provided are to be used; personal business cards are not tags. Clearly tag each painting with title, artist, and price (if applicable),
contact email or phone #.  
Art is to remain at location for specified length of time, if you sell or remove art you must replace it immediately, no empty spaces are allowed.
Artists consistently neglecting locations will be notified to remove art immediately to allow another member to exhibit.
Although digital records of exhibits are maintained, it is recommended that you maintain a written record of exhibits.

Sales
All works of art are listed for sale; if the artist chooses not to sell their work, the tag should list “NFS”, not for sale on attached tag.
All sales of art are between the artist and patron. If you need pricing guidance contact us for more information.
Once a purchase has been made artist will note, “SOLD” on tag.

Works of Art should remain until the end of the exhibit, if the artist chooses to remove art, when sold; another work of art should be put in place.
Spaces maintained by artists, no empty hangers.

Copyrights & other information
The respective artists, and those works of art own copyrights to all works of art and images of those works and images may not be reproduced
in any form, for sale, without the artist's permission.

As a grassroots organization, we are open to all forms of visual art and the diverse perspectives that come with it.  However, due to the nature of
art and the nature of the public, we do not exhibit nudes and horror/gore or religious art in public places, and private exhibits.  If businesses receive
complaints regarding exhibited work, SCA/APPLS organizers
will contact artist to remove or replace specified art.

sales. Participation by members is first come first serve, space may be limited. We do not store or offer storage of art, therefore all art should be
removed unless otherwise specified.

they join, and maintain a next in line principle; contact participating artists with location, contact person and dates to install and remove art; request artists
provide their opinion of the location; opinions are for SCA/APPLS use only and therefore deemed private; charge a minimal yearly membership fee; encourage
individual artists to promote and market their art and exhibits; provide art events for all members; offer invitations and tags.

LIABILITY, WAIVER AND RELEASE STATEMENT
All reasonable care should be taken of artwork on display. Both participating businesses and SCA/APPLS do not assume any liability for damage
to any property because of accidents, theft, fire, the elements, and other conditions. No claims for injury to any person or damage to property shall
be asserted or suit instituted or maintained against the said business and SCA/APPLS by any person having privilege to exhibit. Artist agrees to
install original art on or around the specified timeline for a specified period of time.  Due diligence will be used by said business to insure the safety
and respect of all installed/exhibited art.

Membership & Fees
